Finding Your Routine

The following post is from Lifestyle Patient Joshua Altman.

Isn’t Seattle weather just wonderful?!

I truly love the constant changes and variety that it offers as we never really know what we’re going to get.

Because of the fairly consistent cold weather we’ve been having, I have found myself to be more effective with my day by starting out with my workout and exercise routines. I have been quite successful at getting up at 5:15 am and by 10 am I have eaten breakfast, showered, practiced yoga or CrossFit, and been adjusted at Lifestyle Chiropractic & Wellness Center. It sets me up to have a positive attitude and be in a good mood for the rest of my day.

I love the thought of knowing that after work there is nothing I need to do. Cooking, watching Netflix, going out to eat…anything is an option.

On the days I choose to sleep in before work, I feel rushed. It’s a weird feeling because sleeping more than 6 and half hours makes me feel more tired than usual. I sometimes am in such a rush to get to work that I don’t eat. On top of that, I don’t feel motivated to do anything after work. On the days that I do force myself to exercise after work, I don’t even give it 100%. But hey, that’s life!

It’s taken a few years to figure out what type of routine really works best for me, and trial and error has been the best method. Learning that change is ok, different routines are ok, different workouts are ok and rest days are ok.

You will never know what works most effectively until you play with any and all options!
